The AmeriCorps VISTA Team at the Ionia County and Montcalm Area ISDs wanted to check in with all of our wonderful volunteers and update you on our status.
Since we last have spoke, we have been busy at working on:
- painting our mural,
- beautifying our facility with a little elbow grease ( i.e. cleaning, lots and lots of cleaning)
- a cross-county circuit of board meetings
- a lot of grants and fundraising planning
- finalizing our health inspection papers (and patiently waiting for our inspection date)
But most importantly we have been admiring our blueprints from our huge, brand new walk-cooler! After a few design reconfigurations, we are excited with our new indoor layout and in short three weeks for it finally to be running and ready for use at our operational facility, H.O. Steele.
What this all mean is the beginning of March is when we can finally start providing 500 food-insecure students with their third meal of the day!
In the meantime, if you or a group of volunteers would like to volunteer to assist us in set up please make sure to like our Facebook page. Here we will be releasing updates about volunteer needs, donations needed, and extra help that will make it possible for us to launch soon. We also look forward to launching a new website soon where we will be able to post more detailed information about our organization. Thank you for your commitment to our counties' children. We could not do this without you!
