WHAT COLOR IS YOUR FOOD?

September 24^th , 2013

Company & Conversation is a series of dialogues introduced by the Food Bank Council of Michigan (FBCM) intended to explore the relationship between food and social justice.  The FBCM welcomes participation from a diverse collection of voices including community members, policy makers, college students, business leaders, non-profit organizations, local artists and educators.  In addition to the main dialogue, these events also incorporate thought provoking visual tools as well as time for networking.   Each Company & Conversation event takes place at the FBCM office located in Lansing, Michigan from 5pm – 7pm and light hors d’oeuvres are provided.

What Color is Your Food will explore the broad spectrum of cultural influence into our food systems.  Some discussion topics might include:  How is access impacting cultural food preferences?  How does nutrition relate to different cultural “norms”?  What are some creative and innovative ways that community members work to combat inequalities in the food system?   How is food tied to our social and cultural fabric? 

This upcoming dialogue will feature creative elements, a robust dialogue and time for networking.
